The goal of Playfair Data’s internship program is to identify and develop extraordinary raw talent; leaders and visionaries who will use data to change the world. Information Design Interns will delve into user experience research, documentation, and dashboard design based on our clients’ needs. Interns gain experience with prototyping and data visualization tools, internal team collaboration, and content strategy of a consulting firm.

Information Design Interns will delve into user experience research, documentation, and dashboard design based on our clients’ needs. Interns gain experience in prototyping and data visualization tools, internal team collaboration, and content strategy of a consulting firm.
• One-on-one mentorships
• Introductions to leaders in the industry
• Support creating a professional brand and portfolio
• Possible college or graduate program credit
• Full-time employment opportunities post internship
• Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and architects to identify design problems and brainstorm solutions
• Shadow client projects under the close supervision of a designer on the team
• Conduct internal expert reviews of products to pinpoint usability problems and strengths
• Communicate user feedback and translate it into actionable tasks to enhance the user experience via mockups, flows, wireframes, and prototypes
• Contribute to Playfair Data’s design system, brand guidelines, and other documents and creative assets
You are a creative thinker, proficient communicator, and avid listener who can thoroughly analyze and understand user feedback to translate it into actionable design solutions.
• Open to students currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in User Experience Design, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field
• Undergraduate student applicants must in their senior year and within six months of graduation
• Available to international students with existing work authorization
• 250 total hours, worked in a flexible, part time capacity, over 10-12 weeks
• Compensation of $15 per hour
• Primarily remote, but some in-person meetings may be required
• Applicants should have a portfolio to share with samples of work demonstrating experience designing UI/UX interfaces, conducting UX research, and/or creating data visualizations
• Possess genuine curiosity and interest in visual analytics and working with companies and brands across all industry types
• Experience with Figma, Playfair Data’s preferred design tool, is required
• Experience with Tableau and/or other data visualization software (Power BI, Qlik, etc.) is a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and G-Suite products (i.e. Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) is preferred
• Be reliable, responsive, and conduct themselves in a professional manner
• Demonstrate a commitment to timeliness
• Possess good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and be able to interact with a wide variety of personality types, across a variety of communication channels
• Be discreet and able to maintain strict client and company confidentiality
• Have the ability to use a computer keyboard and be able to tolerate repetitive motion and eye strain resulting from extensive utilization of computer hardware and software
• Reside in Florida, Kansas, or Missouri
